Mental health problems in our community is a growing concern, and the statistics are both devastating and alarming. Every day in Australia, 8 people sadly take their lives and 89% of people report knowing someone has made a suicide attempt. The time to change these statistics drastically is now, and at Tiliter, we want to be at the forefront of that change. Let’s take a look at how Tiliter ensures mental health is prioritised, especially on R U OK? Day.
Employee Assistance Program
It’s important that we turn to health professionals to ensure the mental health of our employees is in good hands. We introduced an Employee Assistance Program with Uprise as our provider. So, what is an EAP?
This is a program for our employees to help enhance their emotional, mental and psychological wellbeing with both preventative and treatment solutions. The program provides a digital platform with specialised articles and resources tailored to each employee wellbeing score and mental health score. Employees are eligible for free sessions of telehealth/phone or video call counselling, all of which are anonymous.
Virtual Yoga Sessions
In order to look after our minds, we must take care of our bodies! To shed light on the importance of physical and mental wellbeing for R U OK? Day, our resident Yogi, Gregor, took us through a virtual yoga flow.
Yoga increases body awareness, relieves stress, reduces muscle tension, strain and inflammation, sharpens attention and concentration, and calms and centres the nervous system. Plus, it’s fun! Yoga's positive benefits on mental health go far and wide for improving mental health. We look forward to our next group yoga session.
R U OK? Long Weekend
To uphold our belief in putting our employees mental health first, we have gifted employees a long weekend in September. Our team is a committed bunch and works hard week in and week out. To reward this strong work ethic, the whole company will take a break and recharge the batteries.
